I wrote this poetry on my journey to reconnect with my desire and my intuition after experiencing repeated "othering" and trauma. I share this poetry so it can empower and heal other sirens and survivors like me, in the QTPOC community. I believe that both anger and desire are sacred, and honoring them on our terms will lead us back to our bodies and spirit.

Tote Bags of my Art

I create this art to represent brown skinned sapphic sirens like me, and everyone who is othered by society. We are otherworldly. In queer movies, we rarely see any brown and dark skinned people represented as femmes, because of the colorist association with masculinity. I want my art to center brown and dark skinned femininity, as well as brown and dark skinned nonbinary genders.
