IS DESIRE POWER? CAN BROWN SKINNED SIREN LEVERAGE DESIRE AS POWER? CAN SIREN GO FROM “SOMETHING DESIRED” TO SOMEONE WHO DESIRES? CAN SIREN DO SO IN THIS WORLD?
DESIRE vs. DESIRABILITY... How do you leverage desire as power when you keep hitting the same barrier - colorism AKA desirability. Samirah the Sapphic Siren’s poetry deals with this conflict directly, then transforms ser societal reality through nature and the other worldly.
POETRY that FLIPS PATRIARCHY... Siren's Desire takes the myth of the Siren and spins it on its head - centering not the desire of the men, but the desire of Siren herself. What does Siren want? What is in ser way? This book by Samirah the Sapphic Siren is a poetic retelling that flips patriarchy, and re-imagines the otherworldly.
Why I wrote this Book:
I wrote this poetry on my journey to reconnect with my desire and my intuition after experiencing repeated "othering" and trauma. I share this poetry so it can empower and heal other sirens and survivors like me, in the QTPOC community. I believe that both anger and desire are sacred, and honoring them on our terms will lead us back to our bodies and spirit.

An incredibly honest & heartfelt collection of poetry. It captures the author's lived experience surviving the violence of desirability & related themes. Even though the book explores desirability, Samirah the Sapphic Siren offers a sense of hope through ser writing; there must exist a world beyond the confines of current reality. And people like sem are paving the way and leading us into the future.❞ - Haritha R

Siren’s Desire is a phenomenal read! Getting the opportunity to experience an erotic potery book, let alone one by someone who’s a non-binary person of color, has been truly amazing. It’s theme tells a story of love and lust, while exploring the sensuality and sexuality of desire! All while navigating a world of violence and loneliness. This splendidly creative read has been reaffirming and refreshingly innovative to the lenses of navigating desire despite patriarchy! I’m in awe of the way that the author not only traverses desire in a misogynistic society, but manages to explore self and survival in a world that seeks to break down non-men of color.
I also admired the author’s ambition in self publishing. Against all odds, while navigating a disastrous encounter with a previous publishing company, Samirah the Sapphic Siren has courageously chosen to self publish. That dedication echos throughout the works of the poems and the world they have bravely and elaborately displayed! I truly believe that anyone who has advocated for their sexual freedom would resonate with these riveting and sensual works!❞ - Ambyr Mason -

I bought this book and immediately read it through three times. It’s such a beautiful expression of queer sex and the power that lives innately within each of our bodies and sexualities. This is one of the first books I have read that validated my experience in an unfiltered and heart-wrenchingly honest way. ❞ - Abby
❝ I read it twice! The star learning to be a seed, the part about trusting your desire or believing your fear, the part about black being the warmest color, and everything with dandelions are my favorite parts. Se did a really good job! ❞ - Nina Iwuchukwu
